Barnoldswick Beach
Barnoldswick Beach
Type: Play area
Submitted by:David Whipp
Item Location: Barnoldswick Beach, Town Square, Barnoldswick BB18 5AA

Description:

Although Barnoldswick couldn't be any further from the sea, in August the tides bring tons of sand right into the heart of the town and Barnoldswick's square is transformed into Britain's best inland beach.

The summer holiday attraction, with a covered beach area and beach activities, has had tens of thousands of visits from families from far and wide. For many, visiting Barnoldswick Beach is the first of many visits to the town.

The Beach is organised by Barnoldswick Town Council and staffed entirely by volunteers. As well as the sand itself, there are Donkey Days with donkeys giving rides to the little ones, and there's a surf simulator for beach goers young and old.more

Victory Park Cycle Training Area
Victory Park Cycle Training Area
Type: Play area
Submitted by:David Whipp
Item Location: Victory Park, off Skipton Road, Barnoldswick BB18 5RR

Description:

Victory Park has a great cycle training area for children.

The area is laid out as a mini road network with roundabout and zebra crossing.

There are a couple of benches for parents to use whilst their kids do all the hard work...

The area slopes very slightly, which gives youngsters a chance to find their balance as they free wheel along.

The cycle area is well used by local families and by visitors from further afield.

Once children have found their cycling legs, there's a longer circular route around the park's football pitches for practising and building up confidence.more

Victory Park Play Area
Victory Park Play Area
Type: Play area
Item Location: Victory Park, off Skipton Road, Barnoldswick BB18 5RR

Description:

Victory Park has a fantastic play area.

There are two sections; one for very young children and one for older kids.

The centrepiece of the play area is an adventurous Alien rocket! Kids can climb up it several different ways and then slide down the large tube.

There's lots of different kit for the kids to play on, and benches for grown ups to sit on!

The play area is next to Stocks Beck and surrounded by grass playing fields.

A public footpath goes past the play area; you can walk alongside the beck to get to Greenberfield Lane and the open countryside beyond.more
